"God’s dream is that you and I and all of us will realize that we are family, that we are made for togetherness, for goodness, and for compassion." - Desmond Tutu
As we continue to practice opening our hearts to love both the people around us and ourselves, we will learn that God created us to be in relationship with one another. No matter what the path we have traveled, we were created for connection.
When we practice compassion, we allow it to take root in our lives and grow in our hearts. We learn to be a source of comfort and encouragement to others who are hurting. We learn to give ourselves more grace, love, and understanding when we realize we are not perfect no matter how hard we try.
Compassion at its core stirs our hearts and moves us into action to love and care for people. Jesus said, "I have compassion for these people" Mt. 15:32, he didn't distinguish who these people were, because his heart felt for everyone. When we are able to look into the eyes of another person with compassion, and realize we have all been created in Gods image, we will come to realize more quickly that we are one family joined together by God's love and mercy.
